PVD COATING

PVD coating is a vital phase in both manufacturing and reconditioning metal cutting tools: it makes the tool function better and the tool life longer.

We are the pioneers of PVD coating in Finland and the only manufacturer of special metal cutting tools with an in-house PVD coating department. The PVD coating process is quick, smooth and totally under our control.

Our coating range includes several one and multilayer coatings for wet and dry machining. The PVD coating process includes pre-and post-treatment (cutting edge and surface quality) to ensure that the tool functions well and to optimise the tool life. We are also able to provide tailored coatings and decorative coating upon request.

Requirements for PVD coating

• Carbide, tool steel, stainless steel, high-speed steel (we are not able to do PVD coating for light metals and plastic)
• Magnetic materials with tempering temperature over 500 degrees
• Low temperature PVD coating (190-220 degrees) is possible: TiN, CrN, DLC
• Maximum size of tool or piece: Ø500 mm x 440 mm
• The surface should be ground or polished to guarantee adhesion
• If the tool or piece has holes, the depth of the PVD coated area inside the hole corresponds with the diameter of the hole
